Hello Sidney, do you want to SHIMMY tonight? Join Mara Maraschino in this Scream themed bump and grind routine with a performance outcome at alt.BIZARRE on 31 October. Shaking off the mundane in true unapologetic alt. fashion, this routine is equal parts sultry, seductive and high camp comedy. Set to Bring Me The Horizon's Kingslayer and with hefty doses of iconic dialogue from Scream, you'll be adorned in bump and grind reimaginings of the Scream Ghost Mask and Drew Barrymore's bob, of course, with gags and reveals aplenty. You'll learn authentic sultry bump and grind techniques, how to combine whimsy with seduction and unapologetic self love! So, C U @ alt.TROUPE?

SHOWGIRL BURLESQUE

Pop on your pink wig and get ready to strut! This high-energy showgirl routine is all glitz, hips, and hot pink sass - set to a bubblegum pop mashup of Chewing Gum by Annie and I Want Candy by Aaron Carter. Expect dazzling poses, classic kicks, and a sprinkle of tongue-in-cheek tease. It’s flirty, femme, and fabulously over-the-top: just the way we like it!

HEADLINERS: Act Development Masterclass - Reverie

Are you ready to create your burlesque persona and make your solo debut? 

This Reverie aligned Act Development Masterclass is for soloists wishing to create acts that fit the theme of “Queer desires, delights and daydreams - an opportunity for us to revel in the true gay agenda - being seen, celebrated, and loved” and debuted at The Triffid in November.

 

Students who enrol in this class will be asked to submit an act concept to ensure that this theme is present.  General act creation can still be undertaken in our Thursday Headliners Masterclass.

 

This masterclass is designed for students with several burlesque classes under their belts; the ones who are on the cusp of creating a solo act and hitting stages! This class is ideal for soloists, duos or groups who want to create a new act or polish an existing one. During the course, your tutor will work one on one with you to bring out your performance potential, guiding you step by step through act creation while developing your onstage persona. Headliners also includes practical theory on how to get booked, managing social media, budgeting, building an effective website and more! 

Please note: Headliners is not suitable for aerial, pole, large prop, wet mess, or sideshow/danger act development.

Dreaming of sprouting wings and taking flight? Join Fortuna Maxima for a soft, floaty feather fan routine to Icarus by Fana Hues. This beginner-level class is the perfect introduction to feather fan dancing - you'll learn essential moves, grips, and combos to take you to new heights!

BEGINNER NEO (MODERN STYLE) BURLESQUE – HALLOWEEN SLASHER SUMMER

It’s that time of year again - the sun is out, you’re in your best skimpy outfit, heading for a weekend getaway in a remote location with a bunch of other hotties. What could possibly go wrong? Spoofing the slasher genre and the Final Girl trope, you'll learn a silly routine to a mix of Cool for the Summer and John Carpenter’s Halloween. Who knows? You might have a special guest!

SLEAZY 60’S CHAIRDANCE

Bring out your inner sexy and learn sultry moves that are sure to heat up any dance floor…or chair, rather! This class takes you through the art of sleaze, tease and seduction as you learn how to work the chair in ways that will make anyone’s jaw drop. Learn basic to intermediate skills in chair moves and manipulation while learning a routine to Kip Tyler's 'She's My Witch'. Take a seat... then work it!

Calling all punk rockers! This Floorplay class will have you melting across the floor but this time with some rebelious flavour and attitude. Learn basic to intermediate skills in floorwork moves, transitions and body articulation while learning a routine to 'Monster' by L7. Get ready to floor it on the floor!

Power, precision, and just the right amount of provocation—Lila Luxx invites you to take a seat and turn up the heat in this intermediate-level chair dance class set to I Like It by Hayley Williams & Moses Sumney. This smouldering duet of a song pulses with tension and release, giving you the perfect backdrop to explore control, contrast, and confidence.

Expect elegant lines, strong shapes, and choreography that plays with restraint and power. This class is designed for dancers ready to deepen their movement quality, sharpen their transitions, and command attention from the moment they sit down.

COMEDY CABARESQUE

This term, we’re burying subtlety and bringing the drama back from the dead.

White Lady Funerals meets Beetlejuice in a gloriously unhinged comedy burlesque set to Hero and The Whole Being Dead Thing. Expect high camp, ghostly glamour, and just the right amount of poor taste.

Clara Cupcakes will teach you how to cry on cue, throw yourself across a coffin, and dance your way through the afterlife - metaphorically. You’ll learn the basics of comedy timing, physical theatre, and how to make an audience laugh even while you’re being lowered into the ground – probably literally.

Perfect for anyone who’s ever wanted to mourn dramatically, flirt with the undead, or strip their way through a séance.

Ever paired raccoon eyeliner with a bad attitude and called it self-expression? Same. Let’s dance about it.

This class is a pop-punk burlesque throwback to your most dramatic era, complete with side fringes, fishnet gloves, and Metro Station’s Shake It blasting like it’s a Supre change room in 2008. It’s peak guilty pleasure and we’re not pretending otherwise.

Taught by Lacey Pop, you’ll learn a high-energy routine full of hair flicks, emotional overreactions, and moves that say “yes I owned a studded belt and wore it absolutely everywhere.”

There will be feelings. There will be stomping. There may be an arm warmers revival.

It’s not a phase. It’s a full-blown flashback.

Bring the underworld to life in this high-camp Halloween burlesque routine set to Remains of the Day from Corpse Bride. Inspired by the jazz-filled, vaudeville-style scene where skeletons swing and sway with spooky charm, this routine blends sharp choreography, theatrical flair, and cheeky undead storytelling. Dressed in blazers, top hats, and full skeleton glam, you'll embody Bonejangles energy—bold, animated, and delightfully macabre. Expect big character, spooky fun, and a whole lot of showbiz from beyond the grave.

HOLLABACK GIRRRL

Ready? OK! This OTT, big energy routine to Gwen Stefani’s Hollaback Girl is all about creating dynamic shapes, playful character work, and the kind of bad-girl attitude that would get you kicked off the squad. In this class we will also work on some flexibility and gentle stretches to get our body moving! But no stunts, no partner lifts—just you, your spirit, and some serious squad goals.

Private coaching can often be the key to taking your concept or stage persona to the next level!

These sessions can focus on narrative, choreography development, presentation & performance skills, polishing and refining an existing act, creating a new routine or competition prep. Past students coached by our tutors include winners of Miss Burlesque Queensland, Miss Burlesque Brisbane, Miss Burlesque Gold Coast, Miss Burlesque Perth, Burlesque Idol Brisbane, Burlesque Idol Newcastle, title holders of the Miss Pinup Australia competition and many more.

Whether you are working on an existing act, creating something new, developing your persona or preparing for competition season our tutors are here to help you think out of the box, calm your nerves, meet criteria and have you bumping and grinding bigger and better than ever!
