Term 6 has arrived and it’s the perfect way to indulge in the slinky, spooky season! If you’ve been waiting for a sign to join in on a class, this is it!

Our 6-week Term 6 courses are here to add a weekly dose of dancing, laughing, and feeling ridiculously good about yourself, with classes for every mood, level, and flavour of fabulous.

Class Level Overview

Beginner :

For those who are new to burlesque or want to polish their skills.

We recommend that all students start with a dedicated beginner class to learn the history and essential moves of burlesque. If you have a dance or performance background, one or two terms of beginner may suffice, though you’re welcome to take as many beginner classes as you choose as the routines change each term.

Open / All Levels :

Suited to absolutely everyone! Once you’re comfortable with your skills learnt in Beginner classes, move to Open classes to try new styles and develop further. If a Beginner class doesn’t suit your schedule, start with an Open class.

Intermediate :

Suited to those with 2+ years of Burlesque experience and/or dance training in modern styles. Expect to encounter floor work, as well as dance based elements such as kicks and turns in these classes.

Advanced :

Suited to those with 3+ years of Burlesque experience and/or significant, recent dance training in modern styles. Expect to encounter dense choreography, floor work, as well as dance based elements such as kicks and turns in these classes.

SPLITS!
We all know we need to be peer pressured into stretching consistently. Join Martini for a weekly class focused on mobility, flexibility, and working towards the splits through simple, repeatable stretches.

LAZY GLAMOUR
Join Martini for a bit of lazy glamour, with a tiny sprinkle of tongue-in-cheek. Sequins, corsets and maybe even a cheeky handsfree headset will be your ticket to a good time with this most requested routine to Sade’s Smooth Operator.

SHOWGIRLS: THE MOVIE
The best worst movie of a generation, Showgirls was an inspiration to so many of us. So let’s tribute it the best way we know how… by ripping off some of the Choreography and going HAM on stage in our Versace (it's pronounced VER SAYCE).

LYRICAL BURLESQUE
The world's feeling heavy and everything is a lot... and sometimes you just need a release. This open-level lyrical class explores feminine rage and power, inviting all genders to grind, thrash and scream to the soundtrack of Everybody Scream by Florence and the Machine

THE CATBIRD SEAT: ONLINE ACT COACHING

Someone in “The Catbird Seat” is in a position of advantage and that’s exactly where you’ll be by the end of this course.

You can access this act development program from anywhere in the world, guided by Lila Luxx – an Australian burlesque doyenne who has successfully mentored emerging & professional performers to achieving their personal performance goals and crowns.

This 6-week online coaching program is designed for intermediate and advanced performers developing (or refining) one or more acts who want expert guidance without the weekly studio commitment. With structured feedback, access to proven creative frameworks, mentorship and accountability, you’ll keep your work progressing without needing to step foot in the studio.

Think of it as your creative command centre - focused, flexible, and built to help you move from idea to execution with clarity.

BEGINNER NEO BURLESQUE
BOOOOO!...with an extra serve of Bs, if you catch our drift! SHEET GHOSTS! Yes, those iconic pin-up ghosts, wearing only a sheet with cut outs in all the most alluring places. Fancy dipping your toes in a campy, pop-culture drenched, beginner friendly Neo burlesque routine? Look no further! In this fun class using the 'Ghostbusters' theme song, Mara Maraschino will teach you audience captivating camp choreography, pin-up poses that will have you looking ravishing (even when dressed as a sheet ghost!) and ways to unapologetically embrace your stage persona. Perfect for Halloween season and after all... Ya gotta have a gimmick!

CHAIR DANCE
Bring out your inner sexy and learn sultry moves that are sure to heat up any dance floor…or chair, rather! This class takes you through the art of seduction as you learn how to work the chair in ways that will make anyone’s jaw drop. Learn a slow stocking strip tease routine with a focus on attitude to ‘I Put A Spell On You’ by Nina Simone. Take a seat... then work it!

TASSEL TWIRLING
Everyone from beginners to seasoned strippers can master some gravity defying tricks that leave the audience dizzy with delight! Taught by Cello Bordello, the human connected to some award-winning tits, you will learn tassel twirling basics through to advance techniques while putting these skills into a routine to the ‘Peter Gunn’ theme by The Blues Brothers. Get ready to leave your audience in a spin!

SLOW BURN CHAIR DANCE
Unbothered. Moisturised. Flourishing. In your lane. Maybe a little bit of nostalgia and longing, as a treat. Lila Luxx's brand new Slow Burn Chair Dance is slow, sultry, and dripping in main character energy, all languid moments and stares that couldn't care less what anyone thinks… as long as they keep watching. Pull out your swankiest suit for this sexy, swaggy, gender-fluid strip. Think silk sheets, velvet jackets, and shaggy carpets (dirty moustaches optional, but highly encouraged.) Set to Leave the Door Open by Bruno Mars, this routine will have you sleazing, freaking and love-making in no time, baby.

CLASSIC BOA GLAMOUR
Join Cleo as she takes you back to the Golden Age of Hollywood in this sultry number set to Black and Tan Fantasy. Bump, grind and shimmy your way around a boa and a gown, and have the audience in the palm of your (gloriously gloved) hand. This classic routine will teach you the basics of burlesque and help you to finesse the art of the titillating tease, one perfectly-timed bump at a time.

HEADLINERS: Act Development Masterclass
Are you ready to create your burlesque persona and make your solo debut?

This masterclass is designed for students with several burlesque classes under their belts; the ones who are on the cusp of creating a solo act and hitting stages! This class is ideal for soloists, duos or groups who want to create a new act or polish an existing one. During the course, your tutor will work one on one with you to bring out your performance potential, guiding you step by step through act creation while developing your onstage persona. Headliners also includes practical theory on how to get booked, managing social media, budgeting, building an effective website and more!

Please note: Headliners is not suitable for aerial, pole, wet mess, large prop, or sideshow/danger act development.

Enter a hazy, Lynchian hotel lobby where surreal meets seductive! In this reimagining of Lila Luxx's This Is Hardcore, Fortuna Maxima invites you to don your best bellhop glam and welcome your audience into the weird and wonderful. Expect sultry slow burns, strange elegance, and some classic Lynchian noir. Please note: class number strictly capped for exclusive troupe.

It's Liza with a Z not Lisa with an S and by god that woman cannot turn off a lamp. But by god she can put on a show while doing it. Pull out you best fosse walk to strut about the stage to get to that damn switch my god why is it so bright in here?!? Turn down the lumins but put on one hell of a performance.

Ready to take your place in the limelight? Step into the golden age of tease with this beginner-friendly Classic Burlesque routine, set to the delightfully camp Halloween bop, Monster Mash! You’ll “catch on in a flash” as we learn the foundations of vintage burlesque - glove peels, bumps, grinds and shimmies - while boosting confidence, building stage presence and embracing the art of the tease. With a heavy helping of mid-century charm and plenty of spooky fun, this routine is perfect for those looking to try something new, reconnect with your body or just have a “graveyard smash”!

NERDLESQUE: LOG LADY BURLESQUE

What would happen if you mixed acclaimed surrealist filmmaker David Lynch with singer-songwriting showgirl Taylor Swift? Let’s find out this Halloween when we cosplay as the Log Lady from Lynch’s 90s cult TV series, Twin Peaks, while stripping to Taylor Swift’s superstition and innuendo-filled hit, “Wood”. In this upbeat and tongue-in-cheek romp, we’ll be looking “damn fine” bopping and grinding with our plush log props. Bring your cardi, oversized glasses and premonitions, and get ready to live the Log of a Showgirl!

PRIVATE LESSONS

Private coaching can often be the key to taking your concept or stage persona to the next level!

These sessions can focus on narrative, choreography development, presentation & performance skills, polishing and refining an existing act, creating a new routine or competition prep. Past students coached by our tutors include winners of Miss Burlesque Queensland, Miss Burlesque Brisbane, Miss Burlesque Gold Coast, Miss Burlesque Perth, Burlesque Idol Brisbane, Burlesque Idol Newcastle, title holders of the Miss Pinup Australia competition and many more.

Whether you are working on an existing act, creating something new, developing your persona or preparing for competition season our tutors are here to help you think out of the box, calm your nerves, meet criteria and have you bumping and grinding bigger and better than ever!

IN STUDIO PRIVATE LESSONS: $120 per 1hr session for bookings up to the 31st August, increasing to $140/hr from 1st September 2026

A note on presenting classes and shows in a post-Covid world:

To keep you all safe, we’ve adopted a number of measures in the studio that you’ll see reflected in our timetable as well as reducing class sizes overall. To maintain a healthy environment please help us by:

Continuing to social distance and sanitize your hands regularly.
Waiting in your car or in the courtyard until the time of your class where possible.
Not sharing costumes, water bottles, props or shoes during this time.
Remembering that our motto for Covid safe classes is “Get in, dance, get out”. Please do not congregate or chat in close groups in or around the studio.
If you are displaying any cold and flu symptoms including but not limited to fever, sore throat or cough, please do not come to class, filming or the Ball.
If you are required to isolate under current close contact guidelines, please do not come to class, filming or the Ball.

We are acutely aware that our new normal means that plans are now always subject to change and we ask you to trust that we will do our best to deliver content in a way that maintains the spirit of the Academy while keeping you all safe.

When government restrictions are put in place, updated or changed, often at the last minute, we will continue to adapt and go above and beyond to continue our course work.

We understand that these changes are not to everyone’s liking, however it’s very much out of our hands. We are a small collective of artists adapting in order to survive during a global pandemic. We thank you for your patience and understanding.
